My Beginings
I was born in Buffalo, New York. I started my first business at 12 years old, selling handmade barrettes.
I graduated from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
As I was preparing for a PhD I was accepted into the Space Life Sciences Training Program at NASA.
I Made a career out of safety
I worked for 12 years as a Medical Director for various pharmaceutical companies designing clinical trials and presenting data to the FDA.
Tragic loss sparks new begining
In 2009, I was suddenly widowed after 14 years of marriage and everything changed. I was broken.
I became obsessed with natural healing and remedies for mind, body and spirit to comfort myself during the grief. During this time I wrote a book about the science of finding wellness using baths.
I began making soaps and skincare for myself and my friends. I found great comfort in the process and the products. I spent a lot of time out in nature and completed my training as a master herbalist.
I started Dr. Bessette Naturals to educate and inspire people to use natural products on their skin, because I believe nature is the great healer.
After spending much of my life chasing money and prestige, I found that the most important thing is to do what you love. Be good to yourself and the planet. I never get tired of soap making because it combines science and artistry and that is my nature.
