Lemongrass Oil Benefits
The lemongrass plant can be steam distilled into a wonderfully uplifting essential oil that can be used to make handmade soap. The aromatherapy benefits of lemongrass oil are unsurpassed and have been shown to alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.
As a professional soap maker and a medical doctor, my passion is to educate and inspire people to use natural skincare products for overall health and well-being.
Lemongrass is a tropical, grassy plant that is used in cooking, herbal medicine, and personal care products. At Dr. Bessette Naturals we believe “what you put on your skin should be like what you eat”. It should be wholesome, natural, and chemical-free. Lemongrass products fit that category as they come directly from nature.
The benefits of lemongrass essential oil also include being anti-bacterial and anti-fungal but that is only if the diluted oil is applied directly to the affected area and left on the skin.
Making claims about lemongrass soap treating anything directly is simply not true because it does not stay on the skin long enough to have any direct therapeutic effect. We make our soaps in small batches and use lemongrass oil for its aromatherapy benefits in the shower or bath.
The warmth of the water and the steam created in the shower help to aerosolize the essential oil in our soaps giving them aromatherapy benefits. True essential oils in our handmade soaps give them aromatherapy superpowers. Sure, synthetic fragrance oils are cheaper but synthetics have no aromatherapeutic value. Fragrances or parfums give your nasal passages a blast of intense smells without any of the nurturing benefits of the plant.
Lemongrass soap benefits can be wonderful in the morning as a “wake up” bar and leaves your skin smelling crisp and clean while uplifting your spirit.
