Exceptional Handmade Soaps
Handmade soap making is a combination of art and science. The process is called saponification when you mix lye, water, and oils together to make soap. The art of soap making is to make a bar of soap with spirit. Combining natural colors and essential oils to create a sensory experience in the bath or shower while cleansing.

HALLMARK OF HANDMADE SOAPS
Recommended soaps for certain skin types or conditions
One cause of dry skin is using commercial soaps because commercial soap companies strip the glycerin from their soap and sell it separately at a higher profit.
The lack of glycerin, a humectant, in commercial soaps leads to the need for applying moisturizers or lotions or creams or skin oils after bathing. This is a vicious cycle of constantly drying out your skin. Most of our handmade soaps, including French lavender, lemongrass, papaya, Adriatic fig and milk, geranium, patchouli charcoal, and sunshine are wonderful for dry skin because they have a high level of retained glycerin and are super fatted at 8% which means there are unsaponified oils in the bar providing deeply hydrating and nourishing benefits to dry skin. |
Goat’s milk contains enzymes and properties that skin loves. In combination with olive oil it is a powerhouse of hydration and moisture. Perfect for winter dry skin or itchy skin or flaky skin especially on scaly legs. If you use the right handmade soap, you won’t need to apply moisturizer, lotions, or creams. Those products contain alcohol and preservatives anyway and contribute to more dry skin. People that switch from commercial to handmade soaps rarely go back to using commercial soaps. Your dry skin will love handmade soaps and thank you!
Oily skin can benefit from using handmade soaps. Our blue corn and tea tree oil soap as well as our patchouli charcoal soap and oatmeal almond soap are great for oily skin.
They contain a higher level of coconut oil in the soap base which is cleansing. Oily skin results from genetics and is common post workout or after strenuous exercise. Our handmade soaps created for oily skin can be deodorizing and deeply cleansing using only natural ingredients. Excess sebum production produces oily skin and can result in shine or shiny skin. Our soaps deeply cleanse without over drying the skin. Oily skin is thought to be a cause of acne, pimples, or breakouts but the truth is that over drying the skin is more commonly the cause. |
Oily skin can cause body odor and natural deodorants do little to help. Frequent showering or bathing with handmade soaps can help with body odor. Oily skin breeds bacteria and that is what causes the smell. Tea tree oil is known to balance oil production as well as patchouli essential oil.
Charcoal powder also absorbs excess oils in the skin and can help balance oily skin. Our charcoal powder is spa quality and tested for purity. Mild exfoliation of oily skin is also helpful to deeply cleanse and help to remove excess oils from the pores. We use natural, gentle exfoliants in our handmade soaps. Think of it as gently buffing the skin to remove impurities and excess oil.
Using handmade soaps with no artificial or synthetic ingredients is important to not aggravate sensitive skin. Using no fragrance or mild essential oils is helpful too. Naturally simple ingredients with minimal fragrances and colors is the best kind of soap to use on sensitive skin. Avoiding fragrances, perfumes, parfums, can help. Papaya is a natural gentle exfoliator because of an enzyme called papain that gives the skin a radiant glow.
Our handmade papaya soap is made from real, organic papayas and the result are remarkable. Gentle enough for sensitive skin and made with 100% natural ingredients. Our handmade soaps are made from an heirloom recipe that gives the bars exceptional glide on the skin. Because they are non-irritating and have this glide, sensitive skin rejoices! Psoriasis sufferers have to be especially careful with what they put on their skin.
Lowering the amount of refined sugar in the diet can help. Using a gentle, all natural handmade soap can help because it will not aggravate the psoriasis but gentle cleansing the area doing no harm. When giving baby a bath it is really important to use a gently skin loving soap. Minimal exfoliation and gentle essential oils are best. Sweet orange essential oil or lavender essential work well for sensitive skin. As we mature or get older, sensitive skin can develop. Rosacea and skin redness are common symptoms. Not overstimulating the skin is important. Using mild, gentle cleansers like Cetaphil are common but that product contains artificial ingredients and synthetics. If you want a similar natural product, try our handmade vitamin papaya soap.
Acne prone skin can be a result of hormones, hormonal imbalance, diet, and age, usually teenagers. Acne is the result of sebum or skin oil sitting in the pore with dead skin cells and bacteria.
This can result in the formation of pimples, break outs, pustules, and if not treated can lead to ace scarring. Acne scars include ice pick scare and craters that can develop on the skin. Seeking the advice of a dermatologist in severe cases in recommended. Our handmade soaps, especially blue corn and tea tree as well as oatmeal almond and patchouli charcoal can be very beneficial for acne on the back or body. |
Charcoal is deeply purifying and helps to calm acne prone skin. Mild exfoliation without overstimulating the skin is recommended and our oatmeal almond soap is a perfect choice. Diet is important is treating acne prone skin and avoiding sugar, processed foods, red meat with synthetic hormones, can help. Keeping the skin cleansed and mildly exfoliated without over drying helps to reduce the dead skin cells inside the pores that feeds the bacteria along with the oils or sebum in the pores of the skin.
Never squeeze or pop pimples. This can lead to a deeper infection and can push the bacteria into deeper layers of the skin causing scarring and pustule formation. Retin A, glycolic acid, prescription medications are often used to treat acne but a natural skincare routine can often solve the problem along with dietary changes. Drinking plenty of water and using natural soaps is a good start. Our soaps have a high level of retained glycerin which is a natural alternative to hyaluronic acid. Keeping the skin hydrated without clogging the pores is important in the treatment of acne.
